Beth received her degree in Psychology from Duke University in 1992 and her Masters of Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work in 1994. Beth is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida, North Carolina and Georgia.

Beth spent the first part of her career providing individual, family and group psychotherapy in residential, hospital, school and outpatient clinic settings working primarily with children and families. Her work with young children included play therapy.

Beth then spent time raising her sons and volunteering in the schools, with sports teams, at church and in social work organizations. Providing support to parents, teachers and children was the primary focus of her volunteer time.
